UL 1277 listed 600V TC Thermocouple Extension Tray Cable is now available from your most trusted name in thermocouple, TE Wire & Cable.
In most industrial facilities, electrical cables are installed in cable trays or conduits referred to as raceways. Raceways for instrumentation cables are typically separated by voltage such that there would be 300V raceways and 600V raceways.
The types of cables that go in these raceways must be rated for the raceway voltage. For example: 300V UL 13 PLTC ITC (UL 2250) cables go in the 300 volt tray and 600V UL 1277 TC tray cables are installed in the 600 volt tray.
To insure safety, UL (Underwriters Laboratories) has distinct cable construction requirements for each voltage rating. The 600V Tray Cables have increased conductor insulation dimensions as well as increased outer protective jacket thickness when compared to 300V cables.
UL has two primary listings for Instrumentation Cable:
- UL13 PLTC ITC (UL 2250) 300V*
- UL1277 TC 600V*
*PLTC is short for Power Limited Tray Cable. TC is short for Tray Cable
The voltage rating either 300V or 600V does not affect the accuracy of the thermocouple extension cable's signal.
Features and Options available include:
- 600V Cables are constructed using Thermocouple Extension solid conductors with PVC/Nylon insulation color coded in accordance with ANSI:MC96.1
- Multiple pair cables: Pairs are numbered for easy identification during installation
- Also available: Overall shield only, Individual shielded pairs with overall shield
- Pairs can be shielded with aluminum shielding tapes and stranded drain wire.
- Overall shield tape is applied with a stranded drain wire over the cable core.
- ANSI color coded PVC jacket is extruded over the core and printed with the appropriate UL marks.
- Optional XLPE conductor insulation with a CPE jacket is available.
